Mrs Geall's
Eclipse Aluminium Windows & Solid Roof Extension
A spectacular 1930’s home gets a contemporary touch
The leaks that Mrs Geall used to get coming through her old windows have now gone following the installation of slimframe aluminium windows.
An historic home that was built almost 100 years ago, it previously had old leaded windows, which were a constant problem for Mrs Geall. Difficult to maintain, this lack of upkeep caused cold draughts to pour into her living space. She’d wanted to have them replaced for many years, but as they were mullioned, she had concerns over doing this. Those concerns were eased once she had spoken to us.
The fact that the windows were mullioned wasn’t the only worry she had. Mrs Geall was also anxious that new windows may lead to a loss of natural light, that was until we told her about our Eclipse Aluminium Windows. With their super slender profile, they provide the sun with a high volume of glass to flood through. Aluminium is also a material that’s incredibly simple to maintain, compared to timber.
Mrs Geall wanted something else, aside from a window replacement. Her biggest hobby is painting watercolours, and for her to be able to do it from home, she asked if we could convert her extension into a studio. No problem! All that was required was the fitting of a solid tiled roof to the extension.
There are no more leaks now and the house is noticeably quieter for Mrs Geall since the new windows were put in. She also doesn’t have to be fearful about opening and closing the windows, panicking that they might completely fall out, as would be her main concern in the past. Her energy bills are down too. One year on from the installation, we went back to the house to carry out a health check of the windows.
