Orangeries are typically built onto existing homes, but an increasing number of new-build homeowners are becoming the lucky recipients of an orangery. This Atrium orangery has been assimilated into the building with aplomb and has been neatly divided into distinct living areas – lounge and dining spaces. The Atrium roof is a massive showstopper and covers such a vast distance that the light it transfers in hits every single bit of the interior, hence the inclusion of conservatory blinds to shut some of it out when needed.
The feel of the outdoors can easily be brought inside as there are four windows with top openings, plus a set of French doors that link the orangery to the patio. Plenty barbecues have been enjoyed out there over the summer months since we finished our work at the house. After everything prepared on the barbecue has been consumed, the occupants then head back inside their orangery as they can rely on it being a relaxing night setting thanks to the downlighters present in the perimeter ceiling. To help them keep some contact with the outdoors when indoors, the potted floor plant was installed, and because of their fondness of music, a plaque of a treble clef was fitted to the wall.
