Conservatory Living – Perfect For Football Fanatics
Men up and down the country can relax; the football season is about to get underway for proper!
This Sunday sees the hosting of the Community Shield between Premier League title holders Manchester United and the winners of The FA Cup, Wigan Athletic, at the home of football; Wembley Stadium. And the start of the Premier League is so close you can almost smell it.
There’s certain to be a battle for the remote control amongst many families between those wanting to watch the football and those preferring to tune into their favourite soaps.
Rather than fall-out, why not utilise your home extension for your footy viewing throughout the season as it’s the ideal place to put your feet up with a few cans, snacks and nibbles to hand.
Here are a few stand-out games to look out for over the next few weeks:
Monday 19th August – Manchester City v Newcastle
Now under the stewardship of Manuel Pelligrini, Manchester City will be keen to get off to a flyer as they look to regain the title from their Manchester neighbours. Summer signings Jesus Navas, Fernandinho and Stevan Jovetic will boost their attacking threat. Newcastle on the other hand have been pretty quiet so far in the summer transfer market despite their near flirt with relegation last time out. This week’s loan capture of QPR forward Loic Remi will however raise the expectations of the Geordie faithful.
Monday 26th August – Manchester United v Chelsea
Red or blue? Which shirt colour will Wayne Rooney be adorning in what will be the first top-four clash of the season. The ‘special one’ is back claiming that he’s now the ‘happy one’ but will he be so happy if Robin van Persie displays the same kind of prolific form he showed last season? This game will be a true test of David Moyes’ managerial credentials and could have an early bearing on who challenges for top spot.
Sunday 1st September – Arsenal v Tottenham
If the projected transfer of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid goes through and Arsene Wenger manages to capture Liverpool striker Luis Suarez before the end of the previous night’s transfer window then you would expect The Gunners to earn their Spurs over Tottenham. But Arsenal’s failure to so far reinforce their squad could come back to bite them if Tottenham’s brand new £26 million signing Roberto Soldado shows the kind of form that made him such a fan favourite at Valencia.
