Home Improvement Trends To Look Out For In 2024

Most of us enter a new year full of renewed enthusiasm and feeling reinvigorated, setting ourselves fresh life goals that we hope to accomplish within the next 12 months.

For some, one of these goals may entail the transformation of the house they inhabit, drawing a line under how it used to look and refreshing its appearance to revive their love for it.

Thinking of doing exactly that in 2024 with your property? Then it’d be worthwhile knowing about a few of the design crazes forecasted for the year by various experts in home interiors.

Sweet Embrace™ – Dulux Colour of the Year

It was the Barbie movie that stormed the box office in 2023 and the impact of the film seems to have not gone unnoticed at Dulux who have gone with Sweet Embrace™ as their Colour of the Year.

Okay, it’s not quite as in your face as Barbie’s favourite pink, however it is a softened pink shade, one that has a small hint of blue-grey to it. Their reasoning for selecting Sweet Embrace™ is because they see it as a positive, optimistic colour for living spaces.

As it’s not overpowering, you could colour drench a full room in it, or the alternatives are to either keep it as a standalone shade for an accent wall or invest in scatter cushions, rugs, vases etc., featuring the Sweet Embrace™ finish.

Retro Interiors

The 1970’s are returning, well 70’s interiors that is, as we yearn for the slower pace of life enjoyed in the era of space hoppers and glam rock.

Geometric patterns will be all the fashion again, so don’t be afraid to get a new carpet or wall covering with them in it, along with some natural wood dressing tables and bureaus, velvet textures, and retro wall tiles. What it will bring is an overwhelming sense of comfort.

Our cottage windows are a worthy companion to such interiors having been modelled on the traditional timber window designs of another previous cherished age.

Curvy Mirrors

A new trend in mirrors is set to emerge and it’s the curvy mirror, which you’ll be seeing on many a hallway, lounge and bedroom wall.
There’s fun to be had with it and display curiously shaped mirrors on dominant walls that immediately draw the attention of house guests in a way that most conventional square and rectangular mirrors could never do.

You’re spoilt for sizes, shapes and material options for mirrors, and have the choice of buying one or two large curved designs or several smaller varieties to hang in an eccentric cluster.
