Home Improvements Need Not Cost The Earth
It is undeniable that the installation of a conservatory or a brand new set of windows and doors can have a hugely positive impact on the styling, value and aesthetics of a property. But there are additional ways of improving a residence without having to go to great lengths to purchase and install them.
Handles & Pulls
It make not seem like the most ground-breaking of changes but you would be surprised at just how the replacement of old handles, drawer pulls and knobs on cabinets and doors can make a difference.
Paint
Buying a tin of paint and paintbrush and taking it to your living room, dining area, kitchen or the bedrooms in your house can refresh the appeal of your walls and give the setting a whole new feel and ambience.
Tidy up
Simple as it seems but throwing out all that old clutter can restore valuable space in your home so that it feels less cramped. Hire a skip or take what you no longer need down to your local waste disposal unit. You will feel so much better for it and so will your home. Invest in some shelving to save on belongings taken up floor space.
Hanging basket
Add some colour to the entrance of your home by fitting a hanging basket next or close to your front doors. Remember to regularly water and tend to it.
Replace old furniture
Tired and ageing sofas and armchairs will do nothing for the current décor of your home. You don’t necessarily have to splash out on a full suite of new furniture and can even get some great second-hand deals locally or via sites such as eBay.
Fit new curtains
New curtains will do wonders for your living room or bedroom. Far from just being a method of shutting your living space away from darkness and prying eyes, a fashionable set of curtains will add a whole dimension to the room.
Wall art
Find a few nice pictures that you can hang up on your walls. If you have artistic tendencies yourself then you could even try creating something of your own to help ensure your home reflects your own individual personality.
Mow the lawn
Those who own a front and/or back garden should count themselves lucky and dedicate an hour or two every couple of weeks to cutting it with a lawnmower, strimming edges and giving it a general tidy up so that it doesn’t detract from the rest of the property.
