How To Get The Perfect Replacement Windows For Your House

Your guide to getting the perfect replacement windows

At some point in your life, you will probably need to go out and buy some new windows for your house.

When windows get old, they start to lose their looks, provide a lower standard of energy efficiency and security, which is when you need to get them replaced.

New replacement windows will modernise its appearance, and hugely improve thermal efficiency levels and home security.

But, it is really important that you don’t just buy any windows, and don’t just buy them from any installation company.

So that you don’t make any mistakes when window buying, we have put together a guide to how they should be purchased:

Window style

Every home has a certain type of character and what you don’t want to do is to spoil that character, but you could do that if you opt for the wrong window style.

All of the most popular window styles are available at Visual, including casement windows (the true definition of a classic), bay and bow windows (great for period residences) and tilt and turn windows (excellent when it comes to cleaning and ventilation).

Select a window that’s in keeping with the age and style of your house, and also satisfies your functionality needs.

Window material

When viewing our window range you will see that they’re built from either UPVC or aluminium, the two materials most commonly used in window manufacturing.

UPVC windows are very budget-friendly and need the minimum of maintenance as it isn’t a material that will rot or corrode, and can be pretty much left alone.

Aluminium windows are also good at resisting the weather and can be cleaned with a wet cloth. They have a very slender framework, and that’s why the windows almost entirely consist of glass.

Window installer

It’s essential that you appoint a window installer with a proven product range and proven installation skills so that you don’t buy windows of a poor quality and that are inadequately fitted.

You will find installers that install in your area on Google, where you should also be able to find reviews of each company in the area that you really must read.

For a sure-sign of an expert installer, go with an accredited installer, such as Visual – we are a member of the FENSA scheme.
