How To Get Your Conservatory Or Orangery Summer-Ready

It’s been a promising start to the summer, with us already enjoying the hottest day of the year – the perfect excuse to sit out in the garden with an ice-cold drink. 

But there has been the odd heavy shower along with the sunshine, which is when you could take refuge in your conservatory or orangery. Is your extension setup for the summer though?

For example, does it feel really muggy inside when it’s hot outside and the rain is falling?

Getting a new roof is the solution to that. More specifically, a solid roofing system. 

Your current roof can be taken out and replaced with a custom-made UltraRoof 380, or other solid roof product, to make the space weatherproof. If they are strong enough, you may be able to retain the existing windows and doors as solid roofs are very lightweight, but you could be better getting replacing them too if they don’t have energy efficient glass. 

There will be a much nicer feel inside after the installation of a solid roof and new energy efficient windows and doors, neither too hot or too cold. 

As soon as the sun appears in the sky again, you will be tempted to make a dash outside to the garden directly from the conservatory. It’ll be easy to do this if you have French, patio or bi-folding doors integrated into the structure, which you can also leave open to allow fresh air to filter its way in. 

If you’re a big lover of being in the garden and really miss it when wet weather strikes, install a few plants.

Just prior to picking spots to display your plants, do away with any thick textures and coverings in the conservatory, as they are best reserved for winter. Exchange them for lighter and thinner coverings, perhaps with a floral-pattern to show off that it’s summer.
