Save On Solar With Savings Made Via Double Glazing In Sheffield
When the cost of energy first started spiralling out of control around 4-5 years ago, the solar market had a significant boost. Due to the feed-in-tariff, which allows homeowners to make money for every bit of energy produced courtesy of the solar panels fitted on the roof of their property, people were instantly attracted to this innovative form of renewable energy.
At one stage, the feed-in-tariff was paying homeowners a highly lucrative 43.3 p/kWh, making it easy to see why there was initially such a high take-up for the systems. When you consider that the average set of solar panels last for around 20-25 years, you could expect to earn a good amount of money in that time, more than enough to cover the initial cost of getting the panels installed.
However, the feed-in-tariff has since been cut two or three times due to claims from the government that the current rate was unsustainable and leaving the coffers bare. Back in December it was halved and in the last few days the coalition have announced that it will again drop from 21p/kWh to a meagre 16p/kWh from August 1st.
It is no surprise to see since initial high demand for solar panels, the market for them now has tailed off a considerable amount. They just do not offer property owners the rewards that they once did and when you ponder how expensive installation of them can be, it is easy to see why people are starting to turn their back on them, no matter how eco-friendly and energy-saving they are.
Those looking for an alternate way of saving money on their energy bills need to get back to basics and give serious thought to installing double glazing in Bradford, double glazing in Halifax or double glazing in Sheffield if they have not already done so.
Double glazed windows offer an improved level of insulation compared to old wooden windows that are very often responsible for those annoying draughts that make their way into your home. The glass used both deflects cold air away and encourages warm air to ventilate your living quarters so that you never feel cold, nor have to pay more than you should do on energy bills.
There are of course many merits to owning solar panels, but they will now be out of the financial reach of many. New energy efficient windows are the next best thing.
