The Conservatory Sounds Of The Summer
After a long day at work there’s nothing quite like being able to get home, retreating to your conservatory or orangery, putting on your hi-fi or iPod, cranking up the volume, and listening to some of your favourite tunes in luxury. There’s no greater setting indoors for banging out some catchy beats.
We’ve put together a list of our current summer favourites:
Daft Punk – Get Lucky
First teased at the Coachella Festival back in April, this is the song that kick-started the summer for many people. Featuring Pharrell Williams on vocals and the legendary Nile Rodgers on guitar, Daft Punk’s first single for eight years took the UK and world by storm, combining funky disco with the group’s trademark robotic sound.
Sonnentanz ft. Will Heard – Sun Don’t Shine
This house track, composed by an Austrian duo, isn’t due for release until Monday, but has all the hallmarks of a classic summer anthem; upbeat vocals, honeyed sounds and even a little bit of trumpet, guaranteed to have you throwing shapes across the whole of your home extension.
Disclosure – When A Fire Starts To Burn
Brothers Guy and Howard Laurence have had a summer to remember. Their album ‘Settle’ stormed to the number one spot in the album charts off the back of singles ‘White Noise’, ‘Latch’ and ‘You & Me’ and this, their latest track, has a familiar feel, offering a highly infectious slice of contemporary UK garage.
Rudimental ft. MNEK & Syron – Spoons
Though not yet released as a single, ‘Spoons’ has a very different sound to the tracks so far released from Rudimental’s platinum debut album ‘Home’ which include ‘Feel The Love’ and Not Giving In’; a slow-burner with vocals as smooth as silk.
Chris Malinchak – So Good To Me
It’s been impossible to get away from this song over the summer months but that’s purely because it’s so infectious and intoxicating. Lay back and allow its mellowness to take you to another place; the ultimate chill-out tune for 2013.
