Why Not To Buy A Modular Extension For Your Home

At Visual, there are several different ways that you can extend your home, from integrating a conservatory into it to growing the building with one of our glamorous open-plan kitchens.

What we don’t have available are modular extensions, even though they are gaining traction amongst the British public.

Ahead of getting into our reasons for not stocking modular extensions, we’ll give you an explanation of what they are and why we think people are taking more of an interest in them.

Modular extensions are prefabricated, which means that they’re largely built inside of a factory, instead of being fully constructed outdoors. These factory-made structures are then lifted out and transferred to whichever property they’re meant for.

Because they’re already practically built upon their arrival, we’re talking days, rather than weeks, for their installation to be completed. It’s the swiftness of the final fitting that often draws householders to them as you only want your home to be turned into a building site for as short a time as possible.

An added draw is the cheapness of a modular extension. It won’t cost close to what a conservatory or orangery costs, but the cheaper option rarely pays off in the long-term!

The materials used to craft a modular extension are never as good as the materials used to build most other forms of extension, which is why modular extensions have a notoriously shorter lifespan. That’s partly why they’re so inexpensive.

Wanting an extension, you can customise? A modular extension won’t be for you, if that’s the case, as the design is pretty much fixed, and you must accept how it comes.

With a conservatory, orangery, and most other extensions, you can tailor almost every bit of it.
