Your Guide To The Composite Door And Why You Might Want One
It’s very easy to overlook the importance of your front door but you shouldn’t underestimate its value as your entranceway is meant to keep your living space secure and sets the tone for the entire house – people’s first impressions of your home could easily be swayed by it.
When your front door looks and feels like it’s on its last legs, Visual is the place to come to for a replacement as we have an extensive selection of UPVC doors and composite doors.
“Composite doors, what are they?” we hear you cry.
Anyone unfamiliar with a composite door needs to continue reading this blog post as we’ll bring you fully up-to-speed with this impressive door solution.
Background
When you look up the dictionary definition of the word ‘composite’ you find out that it means ‘made up of several parts or elements’. That’s why a composite door is so-called because it is manufactured using a series of materials, including PVC, wood, insulating foam and GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic). Comprising all of these materials together makes a composite door far thicker than your average door.
Wood-like
You will find it hard to believe that a composite door isn’t predominantly crafted from wood as it possesses the same kind of woodgrain effect that you would only normally expect to see on a timber door. The fact that it isn’t a wholly wood-built door eliminates the possibility of the door fading, rotting or suffering from discolouration like a timber equivalent.
Low maintenance
Very few of us have the time to be looking after our front door. A major benefit of a composite door is that it requires the minimum of upkeep. It doesn’t need repainting as it will retain its finish and when the door looks at all grubby, you only need to use a wet cloth to clean the frames and get it sparkling again.
Super secure
All we can say to anyone brave enough to try and force a locked composite door open is good luck! A composite door frame is so tough and virtually unmovable when the sophisticated locking mechanism incorporated into the design is engaged. You can have full confidence in a composite door keeping your home well protected.
To fully appreciate what a composite door will offer your home you need to see a few examples in either of our showrooms. We have composite doors covering all styles and colours on display.
