We’re often approached by conservatory owners keen to know how they can make their old extension useable in all weathers. The solution is simple – replace the existing roof for a thermally insulated roof. That’s what we did here, but only after we had put in brand new white UPVC windows to make absolutely sure that it could cope with the weight of the new replacement tiled roof. When viewing the conservatory from the exterior you’re left scratching your head in disbelief as it’s hard to comprehend that the conservatory, which serves as a dining come lounge area, isn’t brand new.
It looks very small, but you’d be surprised at how much light gets in via the roof window, almost as much as the light that passes through the conservatory’s curved front. The interior of the design can remain illuminated at night-time as there are subtly placed spotlights in the internal pelmet. One of the trickiest tasks when fitting the new roof was ensuring the guttering complemented its surroundings while also providing the desired functionality.
We also had the complex job of adding the authentic fire, but again we didn’t let the occupants down. The fireplace will prove a pleasant luxury in winter as it can add supplementary warmth in addition to the comforting ambience provided by the new roof.
